Derby Urgent Care Centre - Changes

From 1 November 2018, Derby Urgent Care Centre (DUCC) will be operating a nurse-led model of care for patients in Derbyshire. All current services will remain the same however patients will no longer be seen by a GP. Patients will be seen and treated by a range of clinicians including Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) who will be able to prescribe and offer advice and support to patients. ANPs will be able to make clinical decisions and if they need to, they will seek advice from an on-call GP via telephone where necessary. All patients will be triaged by a nurse and then prioritised for treatment.

The CCG will be working closely with One Medical Group (OMG) to minimise the impact. There will also be a three month review to support the transition.

The Department of Health have recommended that pregnant women have the whooping cough vaccine from 28 weeks of pregnancy. Please contact the surgery to arrange an appointment with the Practice Nurse.

Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Screening - 65+ Men

This year, men aged 65 will be sent an NHS screening invitation. Those aged over 66+ years can request a scan if they have not been screened before. For more information visit or speak with your GP who will have a supply of the appropriate self referral form.

Who will you be talking to?

The service is provided on behalf of your GP practice and Derbyshire Clinical Commissioning Groups. Your call will be answered by a dedicated, experienced and fully trained call handler who will have access to your medical record in order to process your prescription request. The call handler will only  access your personal information relevant to your request. Your personal information  is secure and confidential in line with the Data Protection Act 1998.

Patients on regular medication are provided with a repeat prescription counterfoil attached to their prescription listing the drugs they take regularly.

When a further supply of medication is needed please tick the items required and return it to the surgery either in person or through the post. You may also order on-line.

The prescription will be available for collection within 72 hours of receiving it. Please note however that you will be best advised to make sure that you order regular medication in advance of any public holiday periods when the surgeries will be closed and in doing so, please take in to account the length of time that the surgery will be closed for. This is particularly important during extended holiday periods, for example at Christmas, New Year and Easter, when surgeries may be closed for longer periods than usual. If in doubt please enquire at Reception for advice.

If you require the prescription to be posted back to you, please accompany your request with a stamped addressed envelope. Remember to allow more time if it is being posted. We will accept handwritten requests but please be as clear and precise as possible, stating name of medication and strength of tablet.

Prescription requests will only be accepted 1 week in advance and will be issued within 72 hours.
